Day 1: Depart this morning for Charlottesville, VA. Stop along the way for lunch on your own and a few comfort stops. Upon arrival into Charlottesville, check in at your hotel for the evening. Dinner will be on your own at the hotel or take the complimentary shuttle to a local restaurant. DoubleTree by Hilton - Charlottesville, VA

Day 2: Enjoy a hot breakfast at the hotel before boarding the Motor Coach to head for Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello for a guided tour of the House & Gardens. Monticello is the autobiographical masterpiece of Thomas Jefferson—designed and redesigned and built and rebuilt for more than forty years—and its gardens were a botanical showpiece, a source of food, and an experimental laboratory of ornamental and useful plants from around the world. After your tour, you will have lunch at the historic Michie Tavern, ca. 1784, for a taste of the 18th-century. This afternoon depart for Norfolk, VA where you will check in at your hotel centrally located within the city. Then enjoy a Riding Tour of Norfolk ending at Freemason Abbey for dinner. Day 3: Breakfast at the hotel, then you are off to visit the Botanical Gardens to see azaleas, dogwoods and many other indigenous flora and fauna in full bloom. You will tour the gardens on a trackless train, with a stop at the gift shop. Enjoy lunch and an afternoon narrated Hampton Roads Harbor cruise aboard the military themed, Victory Rover. Next, visit the Chrysler Museum of Art, recognized as one of the top art museum collections in the country by The Wall Street Journal. Make sure you take a stroll through the beautiful outdoor sculpture gallery and the new state-of-the art glass studio. Time for an afternoon treat at Doumar’s, home of the world’s first ice cream cone. Learn the history of this family-owned business and enjoy a yummy ice cream treat! See the sights of Virginia Beach on a narrated Riding Tour including the Cape Henry Lighthouses and the First Landing Cross, the site where the first settlers landed in 1607. Day 4: After breakfast at the hotel, depart with your guide to explore private homes and gardens on Virginia’s Historic Garden Tour. This year you will be touring homes in the beautiful historic Ghent District surrounding the Hague inlet. You will be able to tour inside the homes and gardens of some of Norfolk’s most prominent citizens. You will have free time this afternoon to shop and have lunch on your own at MacArthur Center. Following lunch, you will visit the MacArthur Memorial to see where five-star General Douglas MacArthur and his wife are entombed, as well as visit 11 galleries of exhibits showcasing the MacArthur’s legacy and historical impact. Enjoy a late afternoon treat and guided tour at the famous Rowena’s, serving homemade cakes and drizzles. Head back to the hotel to get ready for your evening. Dine at a special venue featuring a unique pre-performance entertainment from official Tattoo performers, called “Taste of the Tattoo”. Then it’s on to the main event, the Virginia International Tattoo. You will have premium seating for the most awe-inspiring spectacle of patriotism on parade. Day 5: Breakfast at the hotel, check out and depart for Washington D.C. Have lunch on your own at Union Station before meeting your local guide for a riding tour of our Nation’s capital. After the tour, you will begin your journey home. Arrive in Morgantown, WV and check-in to your hotel for the evening. Dinner will be on your own tonight. (B) Hampton Inn & Suites - Morgantown, WV

Day 6: Enjoy a hot breakfast at the hotel before boarding the Motor Coach to complete your journey home, taking with you all the wonderful memories of Private Gardens and a newfound sense of Patriotism. (B)
