West Virgina Train Adventure

Far removed from the hustle and bustle of modern urban society, Elkins is a quaint town located at in the heart of West Virginia's Mountain Highlands. Discover the timeless mountain heritage with two train excursions through the scenic mountain wilderness of the Appalachians. Then enjoy a toe tappin' good time with three music shows showcasing mountain music at its best. The trip truly is Almost Heaven.

Day 1 – You start your train adventure this morning traveling through the rolling hills of Ohio and West Virginia on your deluxe motor coach. Arriving in Elkins, West Virginia, you check into your hotel for your 2 night stay. Enjoy dinner at the Rail Yard Restaurant followed by an evening music show, “Bluegrass With A Twist”. (D)

Day 2 – After breakfast at the hotel, depart by motor coach for the American Mountain Theater and a morning show, “American Music through the Ages”. Next you will ride aboard the new Cheat Mountain Salamander to the High Falls of the Cheat River then continue 21 miles across the top of Cheat Mountain. A Hobo Sandwich Buffet will be served on the train. After lunch your second train ride will be on the Durbin Rocket. Your train winds down the mountain to the Elkins Depot. Dinner will be at a lovely mansion and then you will enjoy a Variety Show at the American Mountain Theater. (B, L, D)

Day 3 – Breakfast will be waiting for you before checking out of your hotel this morning. You will board the motorcoach and head for home with some great memories of riding the rails in the beauty of the West Virginia countryside. (B)
