An Amish Country Christmas November 15-17, 2017
Featuring Holiday shopping, dining, and a show in Ohio's Amish Country!
Day 1: Depart this morning to spend a few days celebrating the holidays in Ohio Amish Country! After a comfort stop, arrive at Der Dutchman for lunch on your own. Then you are off for some shopping at the Walnut Creek Amish Flea Market. Later check in at the Carlisle Inn in Sugarcreek. Explore the grounds and freshen up before boarding the bus to head for a homemade dinner in an Amish home. (D)
Day 2: Enjoy a hot breakfast at the hotel before meeting your local guide for a day of touring. Your first stop will be a guided tour at Behalt, the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center. Make sure you check out the Gift shop for some local cookbooks and crafts! Depart on a scenic back roads tour ending at the studio of an Amish basket maker. After a brief presentation and a stop at the gift shop, board the bus to head to Lehman’s Hardware, the world’s largest supplier of non-electric goods. You will stop at an Amish Bulk Food Store on the way back to the hotel. Upon your return to the Carlise Inn, freshen up for dinner and an evening performance at the Star Theatre. “Our Christmas Dinner” is a hilarious look at family tradition, holiday expectations, and the real meaning of Christmas. Expect the unexpected when an unlikely mix of strangers and kinfolk are thrown together in the middle of a snowstorm. (B, D)
Day 3: After breakfast, you will check-out, meet your local guide and depart for to tour an Amish school house. Next you will visit David Warther Carvings, a fifth generation carver of ebony, ivory and pearl! Then you are off for some holiday shopping at ’Tis the Season, Ohio’s largest year round Christmas store. Still need some gifts? Your next stop is the amazing Holmes County Flea Market for shopping and lunch on your own. After perusing the 60 vendors, board the bus for your journey home filled with the holiday spirit! (B)
