Day 2 - Breakfast is in tour and afterwards you will enjoy touring the Blennerhassett Museum. The museum became the first professionally operated, publicly funded museum of regional history in central West Virginia. The museum is a showcase of three floors of priceless historical relics and objects of art from the Ohio Valley’s past. Exhibits range from prehistoric Indian tools, jewelry, weapons and household items, ca. 9000 BC, to oil paintings, old clothing, guns and military paraphernalia and furniture belonging to West Virginia’s first governor, automobiles of the 19-teens, farm implements, 19th century jewelry, and glassware ranging in age from 60 to 200 years ago. After touring the museum you will board the boat for a ride over to Blennerhassett Island. You will have lunch on your own while visiting the Blennerhassett Mansion. The mansion is a must see, constructed by a wealthy Anglo-Irish ouple who sold their 7000 acre Count Kerry estate in 1795 and emigrated to America. By the spring of 1798 they had located on the upper end of the Ohio River island. They moved into their 7,000 square feet of interior floor space and frontage of 186 feet, making it one of the United State’s largest homes. Afterwards enjoy a wagon ride before boarding your boat to return to the mainland. Upon your arrival on the mainland, board your coach and depart for home. After comfort stops, you will arrive home early evening. (B)
