Upon arrival you will board a local bus for a DOWN ISLAND TOUR. You will learn about the history and lifestyle of the islanders as you travel through the island’s villages. Lunch and shopping are on your own in the historic whaling village of Edgartown. A LOBSTER DINNER is in tour tonight. Day 3 - Rise and shine for breakfast before your local guide takes you on a full day of exploring the Cape. You will begin in the Cape’s “hub” – HYANNIS. You will stop at the KENNEDY MEMORIAL, and the KOREAN WAR MEMORIAL, drive along MAIN STREET and through the village of HYANNISPORT and view ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CHURCH. You then travel along scenic ROUTE 6A driving through colonial villages filled with wonderful examples of New England architecture. Learn how to identify a traditional “Cape Codder” home. You will stop at the EASTHAM WINDMILL, view Cape Cod LIGHTHOUSES, and drive through the CAPE COD NATIONAL SEASHORE AREA. Sand dunes and the ocean will surround you as you approach your final destination – PROVINCETOWN. Formerly known as “Province Lands”, “P-town” is a wonderful village that has a rich history combining a love of the sea and the arts. This is the point where the Pilgrims first landed. Take some time to enjoy the wonderful variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants that make Provincetown so unique. You may wish to visit the Pilgrim’s Museum and Monument, or take a trolly tour. Lunch is on your own in P-Town. Later, you will travel to the “south side” of the Cape to the seaside village of CHATHAM. You will view the CHATHAM LIGHT, which has been a lifesaving beacon for sailors throughout the Cape’s history. Chatham’s location at the Cape’s “elbow” make it very vulnerable to winter storms and your guide will point out the CHATHAM BREAK and the dramatic changes to the shoreline that have occurred, thanks to Mother Nature. Stroll along Main Street, an exclusive mile of specialty shops. Dinner will be at your leisure tonight on Main Street in Hyannis. How about a lobster roll, Portuguese kale soup or chowder? Holiday Inn, Hyannis,(B)
Day 4 - Enjoy breakfast in tour at the hotel. Your guide will meet you and escort you to the HY-LINE DOCKS where you will board a high speed catamaran for a cruise to the stunning island of NANTUCKET. The high speed gives you more time to enjoy the island. Upon arrival your guide will point out the restaurants, galleries, shops and museums that are within walking distance of the dock area for your time on your own. I highly recommend the whaling museum! When you see the cobblestone streets, you will think you are in Europe! You will enjoy a NANTUCKET ISLAND TOUR with narration at a time specified by your guide. Lunch and shopping are on your own. Later in the afternoon board your vessel for your first-class return. This evening, enjoy dinner in tour. Holiday Inn, Hyannis (B, D)
Day 5 - After breakfast in tour this morning, you will check out and transfer back to the airport with many wonderful memories of your Cape Cod vacation. (B)
