Day 1: Depart and travel to Blennerhassett, West Virginia. After your comfort stop and lunch on your own, you will arrive at the Blennerhassett Hotel. This historic hotel, built in 1889, blends the past, present and future with seamless integration of old word charm and modern convenience. Tonight, enjoy a lovely dinner at the hotel. Day 2: Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then depart for a tour of the Blennerhassett Museum. The museum was the first professionally operated, publicly funded museum of regional history in central West Virginia and showcases three floors of priceless historical relics and objects of art from the Ohio Valley’s past. Exhibits range from prehistoric Indian tools, jewelry, weapons and household items, ca. 9000 BC, to oil paintings, old clothing, guns and military paraphernalia and furniture belonging to West Virginia’s first governor, automobiles of the 19-teens, farm implements, 19th century jewelry, and glassware ranging in age from 60 to 200 years old. After touring the museum you will board a sternwheeler riverboat, the Island Belle, for a 20 min. cruise to Blennerhassett Island, a 500-acre historic park. You will be met at the dock and board a horse-drawn carriage to tour the island.  Enjoy a box lunch picnic along the way.  Then, learn about the history of the island’s inhabitants as you tour the Blennerhassett Mansion.  Later this afternoon, reboard the Island Belle for a return trip to the mainland and return to the hotel to rest.  Dinner will be included at the hotel tonight.
